Knysna Literary Festival

Now in its ninth year, the Knysna Literary Festival is a delightful melange of talks from authors across fiction, non-fiction, and cooking, writing workshops, delicious cuisine from local restaurants and caterers, and even wine tastings. The festival also caters for children’s imaginations, with a fun puppet show being a highlight of last year’s festival.

Kingsmead Book Fair

This one-day fair is crammed full of exciting author discussions, on every topic from music and life-changing experiences to sport and the chance to meet local authors, complemented by beautiful stands offering mouth-watering fare to keep you going.

Franschhoek Literary Festival

For three days each year, the beautiful Franschhoek becomes a mecca for some of SA’s most prolific writers, international authors, and literary buffs. The programme never disappoints, and in the past, has included talks by Marguerite Poland, author of The Keeper, and UK crime-novelist Belinda Bauer.

Open Book Festival

On the map as one of SA’s biggest book events, the festival attracts both local and international authors, the likes of Nadia Hashimi, author of A House without Windows, who made an appearance last year. There’s something for everyone, including talks, poetry, comic book and writing workshops and a fun kids programme.
